It also gives us an opportunity to better understand where you are in your learning. We might ask: Have you had art lessons before? Are you just beginning to learn? Are you farther along in your art training? What are your goals? What concerns do you have? The answer to these questions and others help us tailor our program to your needs and goals. And, no doubt you will have plenty of questions, too. We’re always happy to provide answers.
Our initial contact is Free. We can do this by phone, Viber, WhatsApp, or through Zoom. If you live near Clearwater, Florida, of course, you are welcome to visit our studio in person. There’s no obligation for your first visit. By visiting us at our studio, you will get the a first-hand feeling of our learning environment, and you will get to know us and what we do.
What you can learn.
Paul Foropoulos strongly believes that understanding and mastering the fundamentals are key to enjoying a life-long pursuit of fine art painting. These are the three key skills he teaches:
Drawing
Form
Perspective
Drawing and sketching depends on learning how to read accurately what they see, and then rendering what they see correctly – both in shape and in proper proportions.
Mastering form brings objects to life. The student learns to realistically render a 3D form on the 2D surface of paper or canvas. The student learns shading, how to use stages from light to dark, and successfully create the illusion of depth and thickness..
Perspective is taught so that the student may effectively present every object in his painting in their proper relationship and proportion to each other. The mastery of perspective is key to creating the illusion of depth and atmosphere in a painting.
These three topics – drawing, form, and perspective – are the foundation for creating beautiful art. It doesn’t matter what style of painting the student prefers, the principles apply. Whether their preferred style is traditional realism, impressionism, or hyper photo-realism, the student’s work benefits from understanding these principles.
Next, understanding color is crucial. Paul Foropoulos guides the student in effectively mixing color, and applying color to canvas in the proper order. Proper brush technique is also covered.
Choosing the proper subject for an impressive painting is also covered. Of course, there are so many other jewels in learning that will result in completing beautiful professional paintings that Paul shares with students.
His lifetime of experience and wealth of knowledge is conveyed in an easy and understandable way, with patience and care and with amazing results. Of note, the stages or steps mentioned above will change significantly if the student prefers to do only abstract. Paul Foropoulos is here for you and your chosen style and wants to share his best with you to produce the best from you.
Within a reasonable time, you will be surprised with stunning results! From the first project, beginners are amazed at what they can do under Paul's instruction and professional guidance!
What ages and types of students can take art lessons.
Paul Foropoulos is convinced that both young and old can and should enjoy making beautiful art. He has taught students from age 7 to 97. All have enjoyed the satisfaction of creating beautiful art and they developed artistic skills that Paul Foropoulos helped them to master.
The bottom line: Paul’s art instruction is open to all types of students and all ages.
How Paul Foropoulos started teaching.
It was a time in my New York Studio, when my career was booming. People started asking me to teach them or teach other members of their family. I was always saying “NO” for some time. But then I attended a funeral of a genius scientist, when I saw that brain going under the ground and taking with it all that accumulated knowledge and success, I decided to teach!!!
So, I started saying “YES” – “I will teach!” Soon I developed an art class. Not very long after, I founded the Artists’ Training Center of Foropoulos Studios. Today it is now known as Foropoulos Studios of Fine Arts.
I teach with ALL my heart, helping students unlock their talent to achieve their goals. In the meantime, I keep my international activities alive, as this is beneficial for me and also for my art students!
Qualifications to teach.
Paul Foropoulos earned a PhD from UK Ashford University for Art Instruction. Paul also received art training for three and a half years taught and guided by French Artist Antouan Bedran.
Paul added extensive studies during his career in Classics and 20th Century Arts in Palazzo Ducale Italy, Ecole du Louvre France, Sprengel Arts of 20th Century Germany.
But like many artists, Paul keeps learning. Even now, he constantly updates his knowledge, and follows European and international movements. He loves art education!!!
