ARTIST’S COMMENT:

“The village: I have a deep respect for those villages. Just think of the small houses with many lovable but noisy kids as they play after school in the tiny walkways of the village till dark. Playing, screaming, fighting with a lot of love and innocence. The grandma is cooking and screaming to the kids “Get in, its late! You will get in trouble when your father comes!”

The father and mother show up in the dark, exhausted after a long day in the field ready for a warm supper from Yiayias wrinkled hands. The kids split from the rest and quietly walk in. They sit down at the family table, where they all gather at the end of the day. If its in the cold season, they gather around the warming flames of the fireplace!

These are the kids that later on, they leave the village and move to towns and cities. They study, they work, they open businesses and become scientists, entrepreneurs, and leaders! Then when I visit the village, I see hard workers working until dark without much of life to enjoy, but I also see a factory of amazing brains that are among us today in our society”.
